February

SKI TRIP 2012
Dan and I took our first vacation since Burke's birth with 4 friends this February. We drove out to Breckenridge to ski and relax in the mountatin air. The Paceys and McGowns joined us and we had a great time! No one broke any bones, but we did miss Burke. The Grandmas took great care of him!

This is a view from our ski in condo.

On our third day, the girls took the gondola into town for massages and shopping while the boys skiied.
 Shopping!

 Dan conquered the mountain!

Joe literally on top of the mountain- SCARY!
We went on a dinner sleigh ride and here was an igloo that needed an eskimo.
Our dinner sleigh awaits : )

Burke made us our very own Valentine! He loves his toddler room and they keep him busy with learning, crafts and lots of love.

Burke got spiffed up for Valentines Day!
Sorry ladies, his heart belongs to mom and dad still.
Burke likes his rocking chair to read in as well as to climb on. This chair belonged to his Nonna when she was just a little girl.
Grier kids came over to play on a Saturday night so we played with some model magic and made monsters and flowers.

Dan even joined in on the fun.
Burke enjoys his bath time and has been seen trying to hike his leg into the tub even when it is not bath time.
Now at 13 months Burke's vocabulary consists of: Mama, Dada, Uh Oh! (this one is his favorite) Bah (Ball), Nana (banana) and woof woof.
He loves to point at the lights and turn them off and on himself. His emotions are quite volatile. One minute he can be perfectly happy and laughing, but one tiny, unknown thing that doesn't go as he intends can cause a full on meltdown. Each day he learns something new and teaches us how to deal with life with a one year old.

January 2012

The Croft Boys enjoyed playing with all of Burke's new birthday toys.
New tools, musical instruments, Legos, ATV, cars, trucks and books Oh My!

Look! Matching Outfits! (complete accident- I swear)
 One pooped Burke!
 Happy Chinese New Year!
This year is the year of the dragon. We received this traditional chinese outfit from my Hong Kong coworkers who shipped it to KC for our baby shower. It finally fits so we had to celebrate.

Burke is walking and climbing like a pro. He now drops things intentionally and says uh oh. He likes to drop things in the tub.
Poor Burke. Burke came down with RSV- a respiratory virus. This requires breathing treatments and comes with fevers and cold like symptoms. Since he was contagious and Dan and I had already missed two days of work we called in for back up. Both Grandmas really were saving graces. Karyl came for three days on very short notice and Nonna came up earlier than planned to take care of Burke while Dan and I went on our ski vacation. WE OWE THEM! Thanks Grandmas! Burke loves his own personal playmates. When did you say you start full time?
Since Burke is one he can now eat eggs. He enjoys throwing them on the ground to hear them go "splat" and feed Gage. Those two have a little covert feeding operation. We don't know who to scold first while we hide our giggles.
Burke signed for his Nonna for the first time. He signed MORE! Horray.
Burke Toddler Room Work- We are taking pictures vs. saving. As you can see he studies letters, words and odd elf hats (top right). Sure why not? I am sure this is not the first picture he will bring home that we don't know what it is. Until next month.....

BURKE TURNS 1 YEAR OLD!

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY
TO OUR BABY BOY!
(Can you believe he is one?)

We had a cowboy themed birthday party to celebrate Burke's 1st year! What a wild ride!
We have had such an amazing year with our little guy. We wanted to celebrate with our closest friends and family that supported us all year long (and before that too).
Aunt Nicole hosted the party at her larger house. Nonna and Papa came up from Wichita and Grandma Karyl and Aunt Megan drove in from Manhattan. It was a pretty 50 degree day, unlike a year ago when we had cold, blustery blizzardlike conditions with inches of snow on the ground.
Aunt Nicole worked hard to make the party perfect for Mr. Burke. Thanks!
Burke wanted to be just like his dad so he put his cowboy boots on too.
Time to open presents after a cowboy lunch.
Lovely ladies and wonderful helpers!
 Whoa! Presents galore!
I can walk! (taking about 5 steps at a time)
Even Burke can appreciate the card. Good boy.
Mom's friends, Rebecca and Megan and my buddies, Lawson and Easton came to play.

Yeehaw!
Vroom Vroom. A four wheeler just my size! Thanks Griers!
Everyone is singing to me. What do I do?
 Ready to discover pure sugar.
Aside from natural sugar and some banana bread, this is Burke's first bite of sweets.
 Hmmm. . . .
Yep. Burke likes it. He did keep his right hand clean and dug in with his left.
He might just be a lefty like his dad.
After his mom reminded him of his right hand he attacked from both sides.

Why are you taking it away? I just got started.
 Our little hobo.
What a great 1st birthday party and year!
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our lives and supported us in this 1st year of parenthood. We couldn't be more blessed with the love, laughter and learning we experience with Burke each day.
I have reached my goal of capturing Burke's first year, week by week. These entries will now cover major life events or months at a time. Thanks for following us!
Good bye now!
